Fine (approximately 18 nm) particles of nickel ferrite weresynthesized by the sol-gel technique, and their structural propertieswere evaluated by X-ray diffraction. Neoprene-based rubber ferritecomposites were prepared by incorporating these nickel ferrite powdersin the rubber matrix according to a specific recipe. The curecharacteristics were analyzed, and the samples were molded intoparticular shapes whose properties were determined according toASTM standards. Magnetization studies were carried out using aVibrating Sample Magnetometer. This study indicates that neoprenerubber-based flexible magnets with desired magnetic propertiesand appropriate mechanical properties can be prepared byincorporating an adequate amount of nanoscale nickel ferrite particleswithin the rubber matrix
